Antigone - Creons Fatal Flaw      A master mechanic and innovator of the Greek tragedy, Sophoclesinsightful plays have held their value through unwrap absolute time periodsand societies.  Through the use of common literary techniques, Sophocleswas able to announce themes and ideas that reflect all of humankind.  Onparticular idea was that Sophocles believed that hubris is destructive and ordain eventually lead to ones demise.         Creon, the proud king of Thebes has such a terminal flaw.  His hubrisalienates Teiresias, Haimon, and his people.  Teiresias attempts toexplain to Creon the severity of Creons actions, but Creon only shunsTeiresias.  No matter how plastered the signs, Creon would not yield,(Scene 5, Line 47).  Creons hubris prevents him from recognizing his self-destructive behavior.  Instead, he accuses Teiresias of disloyalty andsuccumbing to bribery.  He feels Teiresias has sold out (Scene 5, Line65) and that Creon was the butt for th...
